Remy Rodgers' parents immigrated from France to the Oklahoma panhandle 20 years ago, and he grew up reading dime novels. He fell in love with the idea of the iconic west. After they passed he became in charge of the Rousselle Ranch.

After learning about people putting on rodeos the past few years, he decided to find some local acts and take them traveling on the road for shows. He renamed his ranch “Rodgers Ranch” and started going by Rodgers since it sounds more western.

He had done shows in three cities so far and they are making money hand over fist, but it was clear that someone was stealing. When they arrived in Brimstone for their next show, he sent his two most trusted cowhands -- Cecil Morrison and Ruby Barnett, who he knew in childhood, and came to work with him after leaving Bill Sutter’s crew -- to hire some help and find out who the thief was.

What he hadn’t told anyone was that his ranch was on the verge of collapse and his show was a last-ditch effort to try and save it. If they hadn't made money, they will be forced to sell. Black River Rail had been trying to push him off of his land for months, as it’s directly along the planned line of their Brimstone spur. They could potentially go north through Southern Colorado but the country there is much hillier and it would take more time and resources to blast through it. Remy and his crew had to scare off their goons several times.

Eventually, the hired posse realized that Remy's trick shooter in the rodeo, Zed Worley, was being blackmailed by Black River Rail to steal from the rodeo and deliver the funds to them. Zed assisted the posse in going after the Black River cell of mercenaries, thus redeeming himself.
