Welcome to the Weird West, partner!

Brimstone Adventures is a Deadlands: The Weird West (2020 revision) West Marches RPG group. We are running a sandbox game that can accommodate many players. Every adventure is run as a pick-up posse that anyone on the server can join on a first-come, first-served basis. We are welcome to any player that wants to join our merry posse of players. West Marches is a sandbox style of D&D campaign, created by Ben Robbins and popularized by Matt Colville, designed to facilitate player agency and reduce ‘mindless plot following’ by putting a large group of players (10+) in charge of where they go, what they do, and when they play.

Brimstone Adventures Rules

We currently have a few articles that goes through the rules of the server, some information on West Marches style campaigns, and how adventures get started.

  • Brimstone Adventures Rules: The Full details on the rules for our campaign.
  • West Marches: Here are a ton of resources on what a West Marches campaign is like and how to get the most out of it.
  • Adventure Hooks: An ongoing list of available Adventure Hooks if you do not have one of your own.

Player Conduct

Players and Marshals are expected to uphold a high standard of conduct regarding inclusivity and fun for all. We do not tolerate harassment in any form; anyone participating in harassment will be subject to permanent server ban. Harassment is any unwanted interaction, which includes (not limited to): threats; unwelcome attention of the player or character; offensive behavior; behavior that creates a disturbance; using repeated sexually explicit or offensive language or conduct; excessive profanity; use of racial, religious, sexual, political, gender, ability, ethnic slurs, or any other targeted comments which are intended to cause personal offense to another player.

Brimstone, New Mexico

In a less traveled northeast corner of the Territory of New Mexico, surrounded on all sides by the expansive Asphodel Meadows and framed by the Ptolomea Mountains, its the bustling boomtown of Brimstone (population 2,337). Rotten with drunkards, cutthroats, and Hell-manufactured heathens all drawn there to escape the accidental possibility of redemption, this little-burg-that-shouldn’t often becomes the final resting place for the lost. Visitors to Brimstone are largely left alone to their own devices and desires, but occasionally the rutted, unpaved streets run red with the blood of those who have crossed paths with the wrong kind of ornery hombres who don’t suffer fools gladly. For some, it’s a helluva lot easier to resolve a dispute with a dose of hot lead than a long, drawn-out debate, and the local undertakers are never starved for business.

Brimstone is loosely modeled after modern day Clayton, New Mexico in Union County. Unlike Clayton, Brimstone is much larger. With the discovery of ghost rock in close proximity its rail business is booming. Much like Clayton was in the 1800s Brimstone is also a busy railroad and livestock town with many ranches in and near the town.
